1995: Launch of the journal Cell Stress & Chaperones (Churchill Livingstone publishers) announced by Larry Hightower at the international meeting of the German Society for Cell Biology

1997: First World Congress of Stress, organized by Peter Csermely (Budapest, Hungary)

1999: Cell Stress Society International is founded by Larry Hightower

1999: CSSI takes ownership of its Journal Cell Stress & Chaperones

2009: 10th Anniversary Celebrations of CSSI held at the 4th CSSI congress in Japan

2010: Ferruccio Ritossa is awarded the CSSI Medallion for Career Achievement, Bologna, Italy, in recognition of his pioneering work.

2011: 15th Anniversary of Cell Stress & Chaperones Journal (Springer Publisher)

2011: 50th Anniversary of the Discovery of the Heat Shock Response by Ferruccio Ritossa.

2012: Latin American Chapter of CSSI is formed at 9th CSSI Workshop in Porto Alegre, Brazil

2020: First Virtual CSSI meeting, organized by Mehdi Mollapour, Andrew Truman and Patricija van Oosten-Hawle

2021: The XIth International Online Symposium on Heat Shock Proteins in Biology and Medicine

The CSSI Latin America Chapter

2012: The Latin America Chapter of CSSI was organized at the CSSI International Workshop held in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Antonio De Maio is the CSSI ambassador to Latin America and provides a liaison between the CSSI Executive Committee and the new chapter.

Dr Maria Bausero (Uruguay) was elected Chairman of the Latin America Chapter.

2014: First meeting of the Latin America Chapter in Montevideo, Uruguay

2016: Second meeting of the Chapter, organized by Alfonso Barreto in Bogota, Columbia in 2016.
